HOW LONG DOES A SPRAY TAN LAST?

It’s the question almost every client asks: how long will my spray tan last? The truth is, there isn’t a single answer; it depends on the quality of the solution, your prep, your lifestyle, and how you care for your skin afterwards.

Here’s what you need to know.

The Gold Standard

A professional, high-quality spray tan should last between 10–14 days. That’s the benchmark we aim for at Blushaé, and it all starts with the right products and preparation.

Prep Makes All the Difference

The better you prep your skin, the longer your glow will last. Exfoliation is key—make sure you give your skin a thorough polish in the days leading up to your appointment. Smooth, product-free skin is the perfect canvas for a tan that lasts.

Depth = Longevity

The depth of your chosen colour also plays a role. Darker tans generally appear to last longer, while lighter glows may fade a little quicker.

What Shortens a Tan

  • Long, hot showers

  • Saunas and spas

  • Swimming in chlorinated or salty water

All of these can cause your tan to fade almost instantly. Opt for quick, lukewarm showers and always pat—never rub—your skin dry.

What to Avoid

Skip harsh scrubs and soaps. Choose a gentle, sulphate-free body wash and avoid products that strip the skin.

Moisturise Like It’s Your Job

Daily moisturising (twice daily if possible) keeps your skin hydrated and your tan looking fresh. Not only will it extend your glow, but it also ensures your tan fades evenly. Tan-enhancing lotions can take it even further.

Movement Matters

If you’re exercising, sweat and tight clothing can rub away your tan. A good trick? Moisturise beforehand and use a dusting of baby powder to reduce friction and absorb sweat.

Hydration From Within

Finally, don’t underestimate water. Dehydrated skin loses colour faster and can become patchy. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin supple and your tan luminous.

The Blushaé Difference

A spray tan isn’t just about looking bronze; it’s about feeling confident, healthy, and radiant. With the right prep and aftercare, your glow can last up to two weeks, fading naturally and beautifully.
